The chances of enjoying sunshine are always higher if you stay in the mountains in March rather than in the middle of winter. While it is never guaranteed, the sun shines on average 6 to 7 hours a day in Val Thorens (compared with around 5 hours in January), thanks to longer days and generally milder weather.

And this pleasant weather, with also milder temperatures in the resort, does not compromise skiing conditions. As of 11 March 2026, there is still 190 cm of snow at the bottom of the slopes and 250 cm at the top of the ski area. And we are still expecting good snowfall in the coming days.
